The Chrysler Group Jumps on the E85 Ethanol Band Wagon

Author : Lance Winslow
Well, it would appear that President Bush's plan for the future to wean the United States of America off its addiction to foreign oil may actually work. In fact General Motors and Ford are both building E85 Ethanol enabled or flex fueled vehicles.Flex fuel means that the vehicle can run either gasoline or ethanol or a mixture. E85 ethanol is a mixture fuel with 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol. Currently there about 4 million vehicles the United States to use E85 ethanol and there will be by the fourth quarter in 2006 another 700,000 flex fuel or E85 ethanol running vehicles. So far one Japanese carmaker Nissan is producing E85 ethanol vehicles. The Chrysler group is also announcing that it to will be making E85 ethanol vehicles. General Motors at the New York auto show is making a huge deal out of these E85 ethanol vehicles and New Yorkers are loving it. The North American auto dealers association has put out to their dealers in the mail the following quote, which also appeared in Detroit News;"The two senators, Iowa Democrat Tom Harkin and Indiana Republican Richard Lugar, have sponsored a Senate bill that would require automakers to annually increase the number of vehicles capable of burning E85 until nearly all the cars and trucks they sell are so equipped."The Chrysler group is also considering making flex-fuel engines for the Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee by 2007. If this happens this could be a major plus for the Bush administration and their plan to break America's addiction to foreign oil. Consider this in 2006.
